Dívčí Kámen castle ruin

Dívčí Kámen

A romantic castle ruin above the confluence of the Vltava and the Křemže stream, where the Rožmberks once held King Wenceslas IV prisoner.

The core of Dívčí Kámen castle was completed around 1360. In 1394 Henry III of Rožmberk briefly held King Wenceslas IV prisoner here. The castle withstood a Hussite siege and reached its peak in 1451–1461, when Oldřich II of Rožmberk lived here.

The castle has been abandoned since 1506 and has been described as a ruin since about the mid-16th century. Today it is one of the loveliest trip destinations in the area – close to the guesthouse and perfect for a half-day walk.
